Cornwall County Short Mat Bowls Association latest
CORNWALL welcomed Devon to Carnmoggas in the latest round of Inter County Championship fixtures on Sunday, December 7.
The Duchy’s Premier team secured 28 of a possible 40 points from their final game against Devon, meaning that their cross-Tamar rivals will need to secure 36 from their clash with Dorset on January 11 to top Group Two.
Nigel Nicholls and Luke Jolly were both unbeaten in their two singles outings, while the quartet of Oskar Bryan, Ian Crossett, Mark Williams and Peter Here won both of their fours contests.
The second team finished bottom in their group having lost 25-15 to their Devon counterparts.
A much-changed team
The following weekend saw some fine performances in the National Pairs and National Over 55s Pairs, again played at Carnmoggas.
Camelford’s Eileen and Mark Williams won the National Pairs, defeating Mark Slack and Ian Crossett 11-7 in the decider, while Kensey Vale duo Rob D’Agostino and Andy Jiggens topped Group One before eventually finishing third.
The Over 55s Pairs saw 10 teams take part which was won by national champions Mike Dyer and Nigel Nicholls from Penlee.
