ST COLUMB Boxing Club’s Max Browning had a night to remember as he went head-to-head with Alfie Troop from Taunton Boxing Club in Falmouth on Saturday, May 3, writes Paul Doust.
Max started the contest well with a great display of his technique to put his punches together, targeting head and body in one swift movement.
His movement around the ring was on point too, and went in at the bell ahead.
The second round was a closer affair with his opponent trying to upset Max’s rhythm, but still Max showed he had everything under control.
The third round was Max’s best round with Alfie in a more defensive stance.
Max claimed the centre of the ring and boxed from there, claiming the third and final stanza to secure a unanimous decision. This was Max’s first time doing three-minute rounds, and he seemed to adapt well.
Young Riley Murphy had a bout earlier in the show’s programme with Ashton Anthony of Blue Flames Boxing Club.
The bout started really well for the St Columb boxer as he took the first round with good footwork, speed and a good work-rate.
In the second round his opponent came out stronger and out-pointed Riley to take the bout to the last round.
That seemed to inspire Ashton who also controlled the last to take the win.
