THE third weekend of October saw St Columb Boxing Club enjoy themselves as they travelled to Somerset on Saturday and Devon on Sunday.

First up was Freddie Scott having his second skills bout against local Taunton boy Alfie Farrell on Saturday night.

Both boxers boxed well and left with smiles on their faces, just what we like to see at this stage of their fledgling journeys.

Next up was Max Browning boxing Alfie Troop from Taunton Boxing Club. These two had met before and this one did not disappoint.

Fireworks from round one saw Max take the centre of the ring, applying pressure and keeping Alfie on his back foot.

Alfie was landing nice counter punches over the top so Max had to weather the storm before finding his rhythm midway through the first round.

It was back and forth throughout the three by three-minute round contests, with Max securing another unanimous win.

Less than 24 hours later the team headed across the Tamar for the Intense ABC show in Plymouth.

Representing St Columb was Olly Billingham having his first skills bout against Bayley Jeffrey from the host club.

Both boxers had success and it made for a great show of abilities, Olly made his coaches proud as he held his own against a more experienced boxer.

The St Columb coaching team hope all of these boxers will be in action at the Newquay Bay Holiday Park on Saturday, November 8.
