WORK is underway to create a new path in Newquay to help connect new housing developments.
The new footpath being built by Cormac will link the Treveth, Trevithick, Trevemper and Goldings housing estates with the Doorstep Green as well as Morrisons and Lidl.
Mayor Drew Creek campaigned for the footpath to be created after the issue was raised at a Treloggan Residents Association meeting.
A spokesperson said: “It is hugely welcomed by the residents of the Treveth estate as prior to the improvements it was a muddy, overgrown track, unusable for anyone disabled or with a pushchair.
“There is no other safe pedestrian access to the supermarkets and amenities for the residents of those new estates.
“So, we thank councillor Creek who has acted on the matter.”
