A POPULAR arts festival staged in Newquay has made a vibrant start.

An art exhibition has been launched at Unit 3b Chi Myghtern Lewdh near the obelisk as part of the fiesta themed Nansledan Arts Festival.

More than 120 pieces of art by local artists are being exhibited, including photographs, paintings, 3D art and jewellery.

The exhibition is open every day until June 21 between 10am and 4pm. A number of works are for sale.

A scarecrow trail has also appeared around the estate, which include Fiesta! Fiesta, Naughty Nancy from Nansledan and Carlos.

Various events are still to be staged including workshops, a comedy night and a family day in Park Mengeleudh on Saturday, June 20 followed by a gig by Track Dogs in St Michael’s Church at 7pm.
