MEMBERS of the surf life saving club in Holywell Bay are gearing up to host the prestigious national beach competitions next year.
Nearly 1,500 competitors are expected to take part in masters, youth and nippers categories in the contest, which will be held between August 15 and 22.
Holywell Bay Surf Life Saving Club chairman Steve Peck said: “Every summer, hundreds travel to the competition, which was hosted last year in Weymouth.
“Next year masters, youth and nippers will all compete at Holywell Bay, for the first time since 2018. Nearly 1,500 competitors are expected over the week for the three separate events creating an amazing spectacle for Surf Life Saving competitors and fans from across the UK.
“We think this is fantastic news, not only for our club but for all the Cornish clubs who will hopefully enjoy this annual event being on our familiar north coast waves.
“We are grateful to the National Trust for supporting us in hosting this epic event, and look forward to working hard with our incredible volunteer coaches and club members to make this an event we can all be proud of.”
