REDRUTH came alive on Saturday, June 13, as thousands of people gathered for the town’s biggest annual community celebration: Murdoch Day, highlighting its rich industrial heritage and honouring pioneering inventor William Murdoch, whose home in Redruth was the first domestic property to be lit by gas.
Organised by Redruth Town Council, this year’s event was themed Pride in Our Community and saw residents, visitors and community groups come together for a packed day of festivities including live music, performances, family activities and a traditional parade.
The event coincided with Redruth Pride, which brought a splash of colour to the town. Bond Street was filled with people dressed in every colour of the rainbow, while a giant Pride flag made its way through the historic streets.
