DANCING queens – and kings – are in for a treat when Cornwall Air Ambulance’s much-loved Helifest returns on Saturday, July 4, from 10.30am until 6pm at Scorrier House near Redruth.

A full day of family entertainment will include a live performance from ABBA tribute band Take a Chance On Us, plus fairground rides, arts and crafts stalls, refreshments and even helicopter flight experiences with Adventure 001.

Helifest celebrates not only the work of Cornwall Air Ambulance but also the amazing efforts of Cornwall's wider blue light community. The event gives ticket holders the chance to meet members of the crew and representatives from emergency services across the region, as well as hear talks, explore emergency vehicles and watch exciting live demonstrations.

The main stage will feature an eclectic line-up of talented performers, including sea shanty favourites Barrett’s Privateers, all-female Cornish band Kana, Porthleven solo artist Seamus McKenna and singalong classics from The Tregony Teachers.

Cornwall Air Ambulance was the UK’s first air ambulance service, and 2027 marks its 40th anniversary. The charity receives no direct government funding towards running costs, and needs to raise over £9m a year to continue delivering critical care to seriously ill or injured people across Cornwall and Scilly.

Helifest has become the charity’s flagship fundraising event. “It has been wonderful to see the popularity of Helifest grow over the past five years,” said Karen Hurn, head of fundraising and philanthropy at Cornwall Air Ambulance. “We’re so excited to be bringing our friends and supporters together for another brilliant family day out.

“Helifest gives us an opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding work our blue light colleagues deliver every single day, and offers a chance for us to thank our community in person for the generosity they show us.

Tickets are £10 (adults), £5 (children), and £20 (family - two adults and up to three children). Visit www.cornwallairambulancetrust.org/helifest.
