The community parade will begin at Sainsbury’s car park where entries will be judged before the procession gets underway at 6pm.

The parade will make its way through the town centre and along the traditional parade route to the Barrowfields.

Businesses, clubs, schools, families and community groups are invited to enter a float.

Dancers, performers and mascots can join in the walking procession.

Family fun day festivities will run throughout the day on the Killacourt, featuring live music, food, games and family-friendly entertainment.

The much‑loved Newquay Carnival Mile Race will make a welcome return starting outside The Fort Inn in Fore Street ahead of the procession setting off.

The revived one‑mile dash, which will back a tradition last seen several years ago, will get underway at 5.55pm.

The route runs through the heart of Newquay, with hundreds of spectators expected to line the streets and cheer on every runner.

The carnival organisers are encouraging everyone to come along, support the participants and enjoy a day of community celebration.

A Newquay Lions spokesperson said: “After bringing the carnival back in 2025, the buzz, colour, and community spirit were incredible.

“Now we’re getting ready to make 2026 even bigger, brighter, and louder.

“Newquay Lions are excited to build on that momentum and create an even bigger celebration for residents, families, local groups, and visitors alike.

“This year’s carnival promises vibrant floats, energetic walkers, live entertainment, and plenty of opportunities for the whole community to get involved.

“Expect costumes, characters, floats and loads of coastal flair.

“The procession will bring together local schools, community groups, businesses and organisations in a colourful celebration of community spirit and everything that makes Newquay special.

“Spectators can expect a fantastic display of decorated floats, walking groups, music, costumes and plenty of imagination.

“Newquay Carnival is more than a parade.

“It’s a celebration of the people, creativity, and community pride that make our town such a special place.

“We can’t wait to see Newquay come alive once again this summer and to see everyone’s creative, colourful, coastal-inspired ideas come to life.

“Let’s bring the community together and create a Carnival by the Coast to remember.”

Carnival coordinatorAlistair McKenna, added:"The carnival is all about bringing our community together.

“We are delighted by the support we have already received from local schools, businesses, charities and volunteers. It is wonderful to see so many people getting involved and helping to create something special for Newquay."

A number of local businesses are also taking part in the ‘Carnival by the Coast’ theme for the best dressed window competition, helping to spread carnival spirit throughout the town in the weeks leading up to the event.
