A DISTRESSED woman was saved from a cliff edge in Newquay using a fire service aerial ladder platform.
Appliances from Cornwall Fire and Rescue, Newquay Coastguard Rescue Helicopter 924, Newquay and Padstow Coastguard teams, ambulance service and the police attended the incident at Great Western Beach on Tuesday, June 9 at 8.35pm.

Police were initially called to the area after a door and a plant pot were damaged.
An aerial ladder platform from Truro Fire Station was used to bring the vulnerable woman to safety at 12.40am.
The woman was initially taken to hospital. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and was taken into police custody.

A Newquay Coastguard spokesperson said: “The complicated and lengthy incident was eventually safely resolved with the help of the fire service arial ladder platform from Truro.
“Thank you to all agencies involved last night, a great demonstration of effective teamwork.”
A police spokesperson added: “Police were called to the Cliff Road area of Newquay at following reports of criminal damage to a door and a plant pot.

“Officers attended and a female suspect was subsequently located near to the cliff edge. Due to concerns for the woman’s safety, HM Coastguard, the fire service and paramedics were also called to the scene.
“The incident was resolved safely at around 12.40am and the woman was taken to hospital. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and is currently in police custody while enquiries continue.”
