THE ladies had the choice of an 18-hole medal or a nine-hole stableford on Tuesday, September 2.

Annie Lobb won the medal with a nett 70. Katie Champion was second with 74 and Susan Phillips was third with 76, on count-back from Sue Semley.

Anne Poole won the nine-hole Stableford with 18 points. Pat Thom had 15 and Eileen Avery was third with 14.

Twenty-two teams teed up to raise money for the RNLI in their Open Day on September 4. The format for the competition was teams of three with two scores to count. To get the ladies off on time were starters Ron Thom and vice-captain Mark Chamberlain, who were thanked for their efforts.

Conditions were reasonable, one heavy downpour and a northerly wind to contend with, while the winners were the Falmouth trio of Kathy Wells, Judith Beeton and Frankie Allsop with 77 points.

Gillian Tregay, Sue Semley and Sally Stacey (all Newquay) were second with 77 points, two ahead of Alison Smith , Mel Byrne and Maureen Hammond from Falmouth.

The best visitor prize went to Lanhydrock’s Sandi Perry, Erica Vierk and Shirley Percy with 69.

There was only one two and that was achieved by Deanna O'Brien (The Point).

Following the prize giving, a cheque was presented to the RNLI for £1,200.

In addition, £448 was raised from the sale of RNLI merchandise presided over by the ladies of the RNLI Ladies Guild.
