LOCAL historian, photograph collector and Voice reader Barrie Doney has no shortage of pictures and stories from Cornwall’s past, which he shares with Voice Newspaper readers every week.

This week’s photograph shows an image of Cornwall in the backdrop of a 1950’s film.

Barrie says of this photograph: “Here is a shot taken from Polkirt Hill Mevegissey when the film, Never Let Me Go was shot in 1953. It was adapted from the novel "Came the Dawn". Among the many stars were Clark Gable, Gene Tierney, Kenneth Moore, Bernard Miles and others. The main film was shot at Mevagissey and Newguay, by MGM Studios. One scene showed a car being driven off the end of the pier into the Harbour.”
