A FOOTPATH is to be reopened in Polzeath after a campaign led by North Cornwall’s MP and the area’s Cornwall Councillor.

Developers ModBox have now committed to reopening the footpath, which has been closed for several months. Preparations to reinstate the route are already underway.

The footpath, which runs adjacent to a residential development, has long been used by residents and visitors alike and is considered a key link within the local walking network in Polzeath.

MP Ben Maguire said: “I am delighted to hear the developers have seen sense and reopened the footpath in Polzeath after months of pressure from Councillor Moore and the local community.

“Cllr Moore got behind the community even before she was elected, demonstrating what a committed and effective voice she is for her area. This shows that when communities come together and are backed by a strong representative, we can get things done.

“Access to footpaths and green spaces is a huge part of life in North Cornwall, and this victory sends a strong message: local people won’t be ignored.”

Rosie Moore, Cornwall Council member for Wadebridge East and St Minver added: “After visiting the Commercial Director, Rob, from ModBox on site last Friday, I am delighted that work is now underway to prepare the footpath for reopening. This is a significant step forward in resolving an issue that has caused understandable concern within the local community. The footpath is more than just a route; it’s a part of the community’s heritage and daily life.

“I’ve been in constant touch with local residents throughout this process, listening to their concerns and keeping them updated. Their input has been invaluable in pushing for progress and ensuring the community’s voice is heard. I’m encouraged by the progress being made and hopeful that this vital link will be safely reopened to residents very soon.”
