THE Treloyhan Manor aparthotel at the entrance to St Ives has applied for pre-application advice for a new amenity building which would include a restaurant and bar, café, central kitchen facilities, yoga studio and gym, swimming pool with associated wellness facilities (jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and cold plunge pool) and spa/wellness facilities comprising a beauty salon, treatment rooms and a relaxation room.
A supporting statement says: “The aparthotel currently operates without dedicated on-site restaurant, leisure, spa or wellness facilities commensurate with a modern boutique hotel offer. The applicant wishes to address this deficit by constructing a new purpose-built guest amenity building in the grounds to the south of the main hotel.”
Treloyhan Manor was built in 1892 in Carbis Bay as the private family home of local shipping magnate Edward Hain. It housed evacuees from Sussex during the Second World War, and has also served as a guest house and a Christian retreat. It reopened in 2024 as a 76-bed aparthotel following a £25 million renovation.
The pre-app notes that Cornwall Council considered a separate pre-application enquiry relating to a previous exploration of residential development within the hotel grounds. That pre-application has been closed and is not the subject of this submission.
