A supermarket in Newquay town centre re-opened on Wednesday after undergoing its first refurbishment in nearly 15 years.

Sainsbury’s at The Whim in Alma Place has had trolley self-scans, new fridge cabinets and signage installed as well as a redecoration.

The supermarket was shut for 13 days whilst the makeover was carried out.

Mayor Margaret North and Newquay BID manager Mark Warren were given the honour of cutting the ribbon for the Sainsbury’s relaunch, which was attended by a number of eager shoppers who have missed the store being closed.
