A NEW family festival is being staged in Newquay to raise funds for a good cause.
Jemma Sleeman and Danae Gilson-Smith are staging Breast Fest at the Killacourt in aid of Cornwall Cancer Research Charity Fund on Saturday, August 2 between 12pm and 6pm.
The day will be packed with live music, a kids’ workout, drinks, dancing, and a charity auction and raffle featuring prizes donated by generous local businesses.
Jemma and Danae are organising the family festival to give back to the charity. Jemma was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. She is undergoing a clinical trial for a recurrence and the pair are determined to raise funds for the research unit.

Jemma said: “We wanted to do something bold, brilliant, and positive.
“Something that brings people together while making a real difference.
“The research unit I’m part of is doing incredible work, and Breast Fest is our way of showing gratitude and raising the money they need to keep going.
“The iconic Killacourt will come alive with sound, colour, and community spirit as Breast Fest takes over.
“More than just a festival, Breast Fest is a heartfelt celebration and fundraiser created to raise awareness about breast cancer and generate support for the Cornwall Cancer Research Charity Fund, which is a cause close to our hearts.
“Attendees can expect a joyful atmosphere full of solidarity, fun, and purpose.
“All proceeds from the day will go directly to the charity fund, which is supporting local cancer research that’s helping real people, right now.
“What started as a little fashion show to raise money has kind of snowballed to become a mini festival. I would love it if people would come, put their hands in their pockets, be as generous as they can be and help me raise some money for this amazing charity.”
