A GROUP that aims to connect people with nature enjoyed a successful birdwatching trip in Newquay.

The Connect with Nature’s group visited Towan Headland where they spotted 18 species of bird. The species spotted included five Carrion Crow, two Chough, 14 Cormorant, 100 plus Gannet, 12 Great Black-backed Gull and a Great Northern Diver.

The group also saw give Guillemot, 80 plus Herring Gull, eight Jackdaw, a Kingfisher, a Magpie, two Meadow Pipit, 16 Oystercatcher, nine Purple Sandpiper, three Rock Pipit, three Shag, two Stonechat and 38 Turnstone.

Rob Nicholls was the field trip leader for the trip, which was organised by Rowena Castillo-Nicholls, Founder and Chair of Connect with Nature, RSPB Kernow Group Leader, and Publicity Officer of Cornwall Birds.
