A Cornish beach is among the best in Europe, according to travel platform Tripadvisor.

Tripadvisor's Best of the Best Beaches for 2023 form part of its annual Travelers’ Choice Awards - with four UK beaches named top 25 in Europe. Fistral at Newquay is Cornwall's only representative.

The UK missed out on a top 10 spot in the Europe list this year, with Gorleston-on-Sea in Norfolk the highest ranking British beach at No. 12.

Fistral Beach re-entered the list this year at No. 22 in Europe, after missing out on a spot in 2022.

Tripadvisor said: "Attracting visitors from across the world in search of decent swell, this is also a great spot for wildlife enthusiasts, with young humpback whales spotted off its coast earlier this month." 

Weymouth, located on the heart of the Jurassic Coast, climbed five spots this year to secure 14th place in Europe. Bournemouth Beach is another re-entry for this year coming in at No. 24.
