THE community is coming together to spark inspiration, ambition and opportunity for young people in Newquay.
Empowering Newquay’s Future will be held at Newquay Community Orchard on Friday, May 16 between 11am and 3pm.
Students from Treviglas Academy and Newquay Tretherras School will be attending an immersive experience of workshops, live demonstrations, and engaging showcases from local employers and the public can also attend during the day.
A spokesperson for Empowering Newquay’s Future said: “The day will see hundreds of students and a host of other education providers connecting with scores of organisations, businesses and freelancers to imagine their future in the world of work and their role in our community.
“Unlike traditional careers events, Empowering Newquay’s Future promises interaction, inspiration, and connection. Attendees will be able to get hands-on with tools of the trade, try out creative activities, speak directly with employers, and discover what makes Newquay’s businesses such exciting places to work.
“Attending partners will be showcasing their workplaces and industries, highlighting their culture, values, and benefits as employers of choice. Perhaps most importantly, scores of Newquay-based organisations will be giving back to the future of the town by inspiring the next generation.
“From surf startups and sustainable food businesses to trades, tourism, health, and tech—this event showcases the diversity and talent of Newquay’s economy.
“Not just for students, the event will also be open to the public from 3pm for those looking at career changes, additional ways to contribute to Newquay’s vibrancy, along with opportunities to volunteer.”
Town councillor Liz Wright added: “This is about more than jobs. It’s about showing young people—and the whole community—that there are real, exciting futures here in Newquay,.
“It’s a space for inspiration, creativity, and building pride in what we do locally.”
