A FESTIVAL was held to bring the community together in Newquay on Sunday to mark the end of Ramadan’s month-long daylight fasting.
Zaman’s in Henver Road is organising EID in the Park at the Killacourt, which attracted more than 1,000 people.
The event hosted by Mo and the Miah family included Mo’s Food Festival, cookery demonstrations, Newquay Chess Club while Imagine Outdoors had children captivated with forest skills, archery and toasting marshmallows as well as crafts and circus skills.

There were also henna artists, hair braiders, a glitter face painter and Cornish Rose brought a forest of plants for people to purchase.
Zaman's was joined by Freddos ice cream and Simply the Zest lemonade to complete the food and drink options at the festival.
Newquay Town Council and the Islamic Centre organised stalls to answer any questions anyone had. Newquay MP Noah Law and mayor Drew Creek were in attendance and made speeches during the event.

John Fernley, who helped organise EID in the Park, said: “
“We had between 1,000 and 2,000 attendees over the four hours of the event.
“We had a queue of people stretching almost across the Killacourt for the Zaman's food.
“It was a roaring success.
“There are plans to put on even more food, services, activities and entertainment next year.”
Money raised beyond costs staging EID in the Park will be going to the mayor’s charity.”
Mo said: “It all started a few years ago when my children took an extra day off school to celebrate Eid.
“Their friends became curious, so after a football session one day.
“My wife Naz kindly treated the kids to samosas and donuts while explaining that Eid is a special celebration.
“The following year, curiosity grew. Not just among the children, but their parents too and the event has grown bigger every year.”
