A MAN sustained serious injuries after he reportedly fell off a cliff in Newquay on Friday morning.
Cornwall Air Ambulance, Newquay RNLI Lifeboats, Newquay and St Agnes Coastguard teams, the police and ambulance service attended the incident near Jago Island on Towan Beach at 7.50am.
The beach was closed to the public temporarily while the man received treatment.
The Newquay Coastguard team and the lifeboat crew assisted with the treatment whilst St Agnes team established a secure landing zone for the Cornwall Air Ambulance on the Barrowfields.
The man was transferred to the air ambulance and taken to hospital for further treatment.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called shortly before 8am on Friday, May 8 following a report of a man having fallen off a cliff near Jago Island in Newquay.
“A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
“He remains in hospital at this time.”
A spokesperson for Newquay Coastguard added: “We wish them a speedy recovery.
“Thank you to all agencies and the public for their assistance.”
