VOLUNTEERS smashed fundraising targets at two recent city events.

At Truro Classic Car Show on Sunday, July 6, tin shakers collected £2,221.29 in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Paul Caruana said volunteers had been praised for the way they connected with the public: “Warm, welcoming, and full of positive energy.”

On Saturday, June 28, at Skinners Tapyard, the Truro Old Boys raised £6,150 for the Samaritans, Hendra Hall and Last Chance Hotel Animal Rescue. Around 200 people – including city mayor Cllr Chris Wells – gathered for a raffle, auction, male voice choir performance and a Cornish sing-song, all to celebrate 10 years of fundraising efforts amounting to £40,000.

“These proud Truronian lads really do the city proud,” said Truro Old Boy Graham Humphrey.
