A four-year-old lifeboat fan has raised over £300 for the RNLI after taking part in the Reindeer Run Challenge.
Alice Bingham, from Stithians, has pounded the miles in a fundraising drive to help RNLI volunteers save lives at sea.
The 24 mile Reindeer Run has seen members of the public tackle the distance anyway they like – covering either one mile every day for 24 days or choosing to run multiple miles on different occasions.
On Christmas Eve, Alice finished the last of her 24 miles, from the Penlee Lifeboat Shop in Penzance to the Penlee Lifeboat Station in Newlyn.
Coxswain Patch Harvey arrived in the lifeboat house especially to meet Alice, with her mum, Michelle, and dad, Vaughan, where Alice gave Patch a Christmas card addressed to the whole crew.
The highlight for Alice was a trip around our Severn Class lifeboat Ivan Ellen guided by Patch.
Alice and every participant who raises over £125 for the RNLI received a Reindeer Run medal as a thank you for helping to support volunteer lifeboat crews.
Alice’s mother Michelle said: “When I saw the Reindeer Run advertised and mentioned it to her, she jumped at the chance to take part. She is so proud that she has raised more than the £125 so will get a medal in the New Year sometime.
“We have received donations from friends and family, but also complete strangers we have met and talked to whilst walking. It has been an amazing experience, and one I think as a family we will miss come the New Year.”
