THE Christmas lights switch on in Newquay delivered plenty of festive spirit on Friday night.

Thousands of people gathered at the Killacourt bandstand for the countdown, festivities and fireworks.

Schoolchildren were given the honour of pushing down the plunger to illuminate the lights, which was followed by a spectacular fireworks display. They were joined on stage by mayor Drew Creek, Newquay MP Noah Law, Newquay BID manager Mark Warren and Radio Newquay.
