A POPULAR Newquay choir is staging a Christmas concert to get people in the festive spirit.
Newquay Singers will be performing in St Michael’s Church on Saturday, December 20 at 7pm.
The concert will be free entry with a raffle, donation box and complementary refreshments in the church hall afterwards.
Janice Swanson from Newquay Singers said: “We’ll be opening with the rousing Vivaldi’s Gloria, Gaudete and the Carol of the Bells followed by a selection of gentler lullabies including Karl Jenkins’ Lullay, A La Nanita Nana, a lovely Spanish traditional piece, When A Child Is Born and similar moving pieces.
“Our guest soprano this year is the wonderful Rachel Carter, a well-known and familiar Newquay star. The second half begins with a perhaps less well-known but no less moving piece, Bethlehem from Martin Guerre, then onto some more traditional works, The Twelve Days After Christmas and a jolly medley, Christmas at the Movies.
“The programme also features readings, piano duets from Tony Harries and Rico Gerber and of course Carols for you all to join us in singing. We’re already planning a splendid programme for 2026.”
