OUTSTANDING young people in the Newquay community have been rewarded for their positive contributions to the town.
Newquay Lions Club staged its annual Young Citizens Awards evening held at the Kilbirnie Hotel.
Mayor Drew Creek and Lion president Barbara May presented medals as well as certificates to deserving young people, which was attended by parents, carers and friends.
The youngsters had been nominated by youth group leaders, teachers and charities.
Rachel Craze from Newquay Lions Club said: “We celebrated another inspiring Young Citizens Awards Evening, marked by a warm atmosphere, a full room, and a community united in recognising the remarkable achievements of its young people.
“It was a truly lovely evening with an excellent turnout.
“We were honoured to welcome the Mayor of Newquay, Drew Creek, who kindly presented the awards alongside our Lions President, Barb May. Their support added real significance to the occasion and was greatly appreciated by all in attendance.
“The young people nominated this year were nothing short of extraordinary.
“Their stories of resilience, kindness, leadership, and community spirit remind us just how fortunate we are to live in a town enriched by such inspiring youth.
“Although a few nominees were unable to attend, their achievements were still shared and celebrated publicly, ensuring their contributions did not go unrecognised.
“Special thanks go to Maggie Biddle and Jill Willmott, whose hard work and dedication brought the entire evening together seamlessly.
“We also extend heartfelt appreciation to the parents and carers who support these young people and encourage them to shine.
“Events like this remind us of what an amazing place Newquay is.
“It is rich, diverse, and full of young citizens who have already accomplished so much in their short lives. Their passion and commitment give us every reason to feel optimistic about the future of our community.”
