PLANS to install a CCTV camera in a residential street off Newquay town centre have been given the green light after £7,938 funding was secured.
Newquay Town Council has received the grant to erect the camera at Island Crescent from through the Devon and Cornwall Police Crime Commissioner.
It follows councillors and residents raising concerns the area has become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour, especially around Penhallow Green where people have gathered to drink alcohol.
The town council’s CCTV manager Charity Horton said: “I have been successful in winning a hotspot CCTV grant from the Police and Crime Commissioner of £7,938 for a new camera on Island Crescent.
“This location was previously approved by committee for a new installation, and we are now fortunate enough to have it funded by the Police Crime Commissioner.”
