NEWQUAY Carnival is set to make a colourful return on Saturday. (July 5)
Newquay Lions Community Carnival will stage a sea, surf and going green themed procession, which will start at Sainsbury’s in Sydney Road at 6pm and finish at Oakleigh Terrace by Asda.
Various organisations, charities and residents have signed up to take part in the event, which has not been held since the Covid lockdown.
A carnival spokesperson said: “The carnival theme is a celebration of our coastal spirit, love for the ocean, and enjoying all things Newquay.
“We’re inviting the community to get creative with eco-friendly designs, ocean-inspired costumes, and vibrant displays that reflect our seaside town and our shared environmental values.
“We’re calling on local organisations, schools, performers, community groups, businesses, and individuals to join the parade and help bring this theme to life.
“Whether you’re surfing in costume, or simply showing your support, there’s a place for everyone in this year’s carnival.
“Let’s come together to celebrate Newquay’s community spirit, champion our beautiful coast, and have a brilliant time doing it.
“Save the date, spread the word, and let’s make Newquay Lions Community Carnival 2025 unforgettable.
“We ask that all walkers please meet in Sainsbury’s car park no later than 5.40pm for a 6pm parade start.
“Anyone who has a vehicle then please go down Fernhill Road and join us on the joining of Fore Street where stewards will support you joining the parade.
“We will then walk to Oakleigh Terrace by Asda. Walkers can filter into car parks to be picked up. Vehicles can gather in the car parks or continue their journey away.”
Alistair McKenna, the chairperson of Newquay Carnival Committee, added: “We’re really excited to be bringing back Newquay Carnival to the town.
“We strive to bring people together as a community and celebrate all the great individuals, organisations and clubs in our town.”
