A POLICE cordon was put in place after a man sustained serious injuries following a reported assault in Newquay on Wednesday night.
A man in his thirties was taken to hospital for treatment following the incident, which happened in St Michael’s Road at about 10.25pm.
A scene guard was put in place whilst officers made enquiries, which has since been lifted. officers are investigating the people who were involved in the incident who had fled the scene.
A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 10.25pm on 30 July following a report of an assault St Michael’s Road, Newquay.
“It was reported that the victim, a man in his 30s, had sustained serious injuries and remains in hospital receiving treatment.
“Detectives are investigating the incident in efforts to establish the full circumstance and identify those involved, who had left prior to police arrival.
“A scene guard was in place while officers managed enquiries on St Michael’s Road, and this has since been lifted.”
