POOL Academy is celebrating another successful year of GCSE results as students collect their grades and look ahead to bright futures.
Just over 100 students collected results, with 61 per cent achieving grade 4 or above in both English and maths (up from 54 per cent in 2024). Students achieving a grade 5 or above in both English and maths came in at 40 per cent (a strong increase from 30 per cent in 2024), while 11% achieved both English and maths results at grade 7 or higher (up from six per cent in 2024).
Nikita secured an exceptional set of GCSE results — achieving grade 9s in every subject alongside a distinction. He will continue his studies at Truro College, taking A Levels in chemistry, biology and maths, a first step towards his long-term ambition to become an orthodontist.

Akiri achieved an impressive set of results including five grade 9s and three grade 8s - a testament to his determination, creativity, and commitment to his studies. He will study A Levels in computer science, photography, 3D design and maths at Truro College, with the intention of pursuing software development at university.
Pool Academy is part of Athena Learning Trust. It has been an exciting year for students, with a royal visit from HRH Princess Anne, an inspiring Q&A session with Perran Moon MP, a new functional fitness suite, successful fundraising efforts for charities like Children in Need and Comic Relief, and a range of immersive educational trips to locations including Berlin.
Principal Nick Ward said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and their GCSE achievements this year. These results are a testament to their resilience and determination, and the support of our outstanding staff team. It’s wonderful to see so many young people ready to take the next step with confidence."
