REDRUTH head to Cheshire tomorrow looking to continue their perfect start to the season in National League Two (West).

The Reds – with six wins from six and a near maximum 29 points from 30 to boot – visit Lymm (2.15pm) looking to maintain their lead over the chasing pack which includes tomorrow’s hosts.

The Cornishmen’s victories have seen four wins at the Recreation Ground, and with comfortable away wins at Devonport Services and Exeter University, the real hard work starts now, particularly as they begin a long season of travelling which sees them spend plenty of time up and down the M5 and M6.

Last weekend they eased past Somerset outfit Hornets at the Rec, although director of rugby Richie Kevern felt they were far from perfect.

He said: “I was happy with the win last week against a dangerous Hornets side. I was pleased with how effective we were in the first half, although there were quite a few errors after the break and we didn’t quite execute like we did in the first half which highlighted a bit for us to work on.”

That 38-14 success included a hat-trick for hooker Tom Cowan-Dickie who leads the league’s try-scoring charts with 10 from six outings, and they are in rude health for tomorrow, the only absentee from last weekend being Luke Johnson which allows a chance for promising youngster Adam Hall at full-back.

Rob Baragwanath comes in for Finn Wolstencroft at No.8, while back-rower Aden Brassington has crossed the divide by joining the Reds from neighbours Camborne and is named on the bench, as is prop Cam Leigh for Beau Danks. Jacob Chapple provides a backs option.

Lymm, which is based just outside of Warrington off the M6, have four wins from six and have yet to lose at home, but sit sixth in the table as the quartet of Taunton Titans, Hinckley, Luctonians and Clifton have all lost just once.

Looking ahead to the clash at Crouchley Lane which will be played on an artificial pitch, Redruth director of rugby Richie Kevern said: “Four wins at home and two away from home is a great start for us, but I think this week will be a real test of character with it being a long travel after a long block of games. The question is, can we hit the same levels of performance away from home? I think we can but it’s important fot us to stick to what we are good at and not getting caught up in what the home team are trying to do.”
