Newquay Golf Club latest
THE ladies competed for the Spring Shields on Tuesday, May 26, in a four-ball betterball competition. The winners were Susan Waters and Sandra Lloyd with 46 points. Tracey Morgan and Abi Crosswood were second with 43 and Susan Hodge and Sarah Start were third with 41 points.
The nine-hole Stableford was won by Meg Platton with 20 points, Marilyn Start was second with 17.
Tuesday, June 2 saw the ladies tee up to play a Medal in blustery and rainy conditions with Roz O'Shea taking the honours with a nett 73. Georgia Allen was second with nett 77, three shots better off than Tracey Morgan.
The nine-hole Stableford was won by Gail Hicks with 19 points, Anne Poole was second with 16 and Susan Waters third with 14 points.
Away from the club, on May 22, Newquay ladies continued their winning ways in the league by beating Mullion 4-3 away from home.
On Sunday, May 31, in the Academia Golf Club Classic, Newquay ladies beat St Enodoc 3-2 away with the help of the final match.

Seniors Captain’s Charity Day playing for the Colin Marshall Trophy (Team of four with two scores to count) – Tuesday, June 2
THE day raised over £560 for the Mount Edgcumbe Hospice with the winners being Duncan Connabeer, Ian Collier, Keith Minor and Ian Bramley with 86 points.
Midweek Stableford – Wednesday, June 3
Results: 1 Jeremy Burt – 41pts; 2 Luke Patton – 37 (c/b); 3 Steve Kellow – 37.
Ladies’ league match at Tehidy Park – Wednesday, June 3
THE Saints were beaten 4-3 on their travels.
Ladies’ Jubilee Plate (Individual Stableford) – Thursday, June 4
Results: 1 Jackie Nile – 31pts (c/b); 2 Wendy Kingdon – 31; 3 Annie Lund – 30.
Mixed match at home to West Cornwall (Ten pairs a side playing Greensomes Matchplay) – Sunday, June 7
DESPITE the Saints emerging winners on the day by 6.5 to 3.5 points, the trophy was retained by West Cornwall on aggregate following their 7-3 success earlier in the season.
The match was followed by an excellent roast dinner and dessert.

THE 2026 Gribbin 10K was held by St Austell Running Club on Wednesday, June 26 over 200 runners taking part.
Keswick AC’s Sam Stead took victory in just 39 minutes and 46 seconds, 23 seconds clear of St Austell Running Club’s Bradley Parsons.
Garth McConville – representing St Austell Athletes Running Club – made up the top three in 40:44.
The fastest lady over the line was Cornwall AC’s Chloe Clarke in 43:39 which was enough for 13th overall.
Jodie Gauld (St Austell RC) and Lucy Williams (Truro RC) – were the next to finish in 44:51 and 47:56 respectively.
