Bond Timber Cornwall Cricket League Division Two East round-up – Saturday, June 27

ST BLAZEY were knocked off top spot as Ryan Pooley’s brutal 136 not out gave Tintagel a six-wicket success at Butts Field.

Earlier, Blazey were restricted to just 225 all out as after reaching 112-1 via Josh Carne (54) and Henro Bouwer (47), they needed 40 not out from number 10 Angus Harley to reach to give themselves half a chance.

Tintagel slipped to 13-2 chasing 226, but Pooley’s 107-ball knock saw the Greens to victory as only Nithin Gowda (1-25 off 9) and Bouwer (1-16 off 7) provided much control.

Wadebridge Seconds moved back to the top as Sam Richards’ century saw them to victory over Menheniot-Looe.

His 134 was the backbone of their 283-7 which proved far too many for the away side who were 205 all out despite Lachie Embleton’s unbeaten 128.

St Austell Seconds thrashed a depleted Holsworthy outfit by 207 runs at Wheal Eliza.

James Carter’s 94 was the backbone after a solid start from Archie Connolly (33) and Steve Raven (26), and that allowed Jack Mallet (45), Matt Ellison (21), Mike Bone (25no) and James Pook (26no) to wield the willow as they racked up 301-5 from their 45 overs.

Holsworthy lost wickets throughout to be dismissed for just 94, Qasim Jamal taking 3-4 towards the end.

The closest match of the day was at Callington as Lanhydrock beat the home side’s seconds by just three runs.

Amir Khan’s 102 got the visitors to 210-9 despite Dan Davis’ 3-31, before Callington slipped to 75-7 in reply with Australian off-spinner Sam Remedios claiming 5-31.

Jim Shorten (28) and Ryan Hodge (66) started the fightback before departing to Ruben Turner (2-20), but victory was assured when skipper Jamie Eldridge had last man Harvey Poad caught for 11.
