AIZAZ Ahmad struck one of the fastest centuries in the second-tier’s history as leaders Hayle romped to a nine-wicket victory at mid-table Stithians.

After a superb bowling performance from opening bowlers Max Jenkin (2-13) and James Franklin (3-36) reduced the hosts to 21-4, before twenties from Callum Martin (26), Glyn Furnival (24) and Andrew Lean (26) gave them a chance at 144 all out.

However, Ahmad smashed 110 not from just 43 balls with 12 fours and five sixes as the winning runs came in just 12.3 overs.

Paul remain a point behind after easing to a seven-wicket success at Roche.

James Cole hung around for 41 not out and James Hunkin struck a quickfire 30, but Roche were dismissed for just 151 all out as skipper Will Trenoweth claimed 4-32.

Cole then dismissed both openers cheaply, however Ben Brooks’ unbeaten 67 with help from Kam Collins (33) and Pieter Gildenhuys (18no) got the job done.

Kent and Hamza Waheed then both hammered the bowling to all parts as Kent struck 44 from 22 balls with nine fours and a six, while Waheed walloped 57 from just 23 which included six fours and four maximums.

Truro sit third in the standings, 10 points behind Hayle who they welcome to Boscawen Park this weekend, while Luckett are two points adrift of third bottom Roche.

Newquay have a 17-point deficit to make up on Roche to survive after a 137-run thrashing at fourth-placed Beacon who were missing a host of key players.

However, they persuaded several retired first-teamers to play and they responded in style, led by Jordan Thomas’ century in a fine total of 254-5.

Usually a four – he made 103 not out off from 137 balls and shared an unbroken stand of 99 with Archie Condie who was 35 not out. Australian left-arm spinner Tom Owen took 2-34.

Perranporth returned to winning ways against visiting Falmouth.

Opener Henry Stephenson’s 34 was the best in the Pilchards’ 161 all out as young spinner Callum Stephens took 4-13 from his eight overs.

Falmouth were going okay ay 51-2 with Freddie Ayliffe (24) and James Tomlinson (18) set, but once they were dismissed for just 114 as both Travis Woolston (3-24) and Tyler Murrell (3-16) shared six wickets.
