Truro has been named the safest city in the UK for a night out according to new data.

The study, by online casino Luck.com, analysed data for cities across the country on the number of bars and clubs, the number of pubs, the average cost of a pint, the average cost of a takeaway and safety scores for walking alone at night.

Truro came at the top of the rankings for multiple categories, giving it an overall score of 70.35 out of 100 - the highest of any city.

The city had the highest ratio of clubs and bars, with 48 per every 100,000 people, as well as 196 pubs per 100,000 people.

When it came to safety in the city, Truro was ranked the safest place to walk alone at night, with a score of 83.

However, Truro is pricier than other cities, with a half pint of beer costing an average of £4 while the lowest recorded price was £2 in Wrexham, and a McDonald’s meal costing £6, slightly higher than Bangor’s average of £5.60.

A spokesperson from Luck.com has commented on the study: “Truro is the best, cheapest and safest UK city for a night out, according to this new analysis.

“It is interesting, however, that the data exclusively names cathedral cities in England, Wales and Scotland, rather than larger metropolitan cities.

“This suggests partygoers can enjoy celebrations to the fullest in welcoming environments without paying higher prices that are often found in larger cities, such as London and Manchester.”
