A volunteer champion has been shortlisted for a national award.

Deb Hoskin, 59, co-founded the Horticultural Therapy Trust (HTT) charity in 2012 and it has gone from strength to strength working alongside various organisations.

Deb has been supported by her social housing provider LiveWest on a number of projects.

Deb, from Millbrook, has planted trees with children, establishing a tree nursery, orchard and an after-school environment club at Millbrook Primary School.

Thanks to funding given through LiveWest’s Community Grant, Deb was able to help children in a therapy project she ran in Devonport to create wildlife gardens.

She has also created a community orchard with residents at LiveWest’s Liskeard Foyer and carried out gardening projects at Live-West’s foyers in Plymouth and Bodmin.

In addition, she took part in the annual Harfest green event to help establish a community permaculture plot.

In recognition of her efforts, Deb has been nominated for Tenant or Resident Contribution to Sustainable Living at the Unlock Net Zero awards.
