THE Red Lion pub in Mawnan Smith, near Falmouth, celebrated a successful year of monthly pub quizzes by presenting a cheque for £1,120 to Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) at a special Christmas quiz event.

Throughout 2025, quiz participants added to a growing charity pot each month, culminating in a festive finale featuring a raffle, games, mince pies, and mulled wine.

Amanda Masters, area fundraiser for CHSW, attended the event to receive the donation on behalf of the charity.

The evening was supported by Sara and Paul McNulty of Toad Hall Cottages, who donated a large hamper to the raffle.

The McNulty’s have been enthusiastic supporters of the quiz throughout the year and are active fundraisers with the Falmouth Friends of Children's Hospice South West.

Amanda said: "Thank you so much to all the patrons of The Red Lion for joining the quizzes throughout 2025, evenings like this really bring the local community together and the funds raised will help support babes, children, young people and their families when they need it most."

The monthly pub quiz at The Red Lion continues to bring together the Mawnan Smith community while supporting worthy causes in the local area. Organised by local regular Austen Osborne, the quiz has become a fixture in the village calendar.
