TRURO’S relationship with farming is the subject of the latest talk hosted by Truro Old Cornwall Society (OCS), in which Phil Hosken will share his knowledge of local company Farm Industries.
Agriculture has shaped the land all around us; by-products including leather and wool have stimulated manufacturing, while agricultural supplies and produce sustained the shipping industry for centuries. At the heart of this relationship lay the Farm Industries, a spin-off of the famous HTP (Hosken, Trevithick, Polkinhorne).
Now in his nineties, historian Phil is a descendant of the Hoskens who were partners in both influential enterprises. He will with Truro OCS – and sell his recent book, Farm Industries - at Zafiro’s in New Bridge Street from 7.30pm.
Entry costs £2.50 (non-members - annual membership costs £15, including a twice-yearly journal).
