Teachers and dancers from across West Cornwall united for the annual International Line Dance Flash Mob Day, performing to country music beneath The Drummer statue at midday. A second flashmob featuring North Cornwall dancers took place in front of Bodmin’s Shire Hall at 2pm.

Both were in aid of the Line Dance Foundation, a charity supporting line dancing professionals including choreographers, instructors, DJs, performers and event organisers.

Friends Jo Wright, Denise Kent and Jeanette Poole meet weekly with The Mavericks from St Day. “If you’ve never tried it, have a go,” added Jeanette. “It doesn’t matter if you’re facing the wrong way – it’s sociable and it’s good for you, physically and mentally.”

Barrie Penrose leads line dancing groups in St Day, Fraddon and Threemilestone. “We had around 100 people in Truyro, and were thrilled to see so many,” he said.
