THE 123rd annual Truro Primestock Show will take place at the city’s cattle market on Wednesday, December 3 with the support of auctioneers Lodge and Thomas.
The show is considered by many as the start of the festive season. More than 700 entries have been received and members of the public are welcome to see the best Cornish farming can produce.
Shortlanesend farmer Richard Tinney is this year’s show chairman, having been showyard director for over 20 years. “This year’s show is going to be one of the best,” he said. “We have good entries for cattle, a lot of sheep and huge classes in domestic. The egg, cake, honey and needlework classes are the busiest ever.”
Show president Sam Galsworthy said: “This show allows exhibitors to show their fabulous cattle and sheep, and gives local butchers the opportunity to purchase prize-winning animals so their customers may enjoy the best of Cornish beef and lamb in time for Christmas.”
A half-hourly bus will run from Truro coach park (behind Marks and Spencer) to the market from 9.30am until 6.30pm, returning to Truro on the hour from 10am until 7pm.
