PUBLIC meetings have been convened by Cornwall’s MPs to discuss and raise general questions regarding storm resilience and recovery.

Tomorrow [Saturday, February 8], Jayne Kirkham, Labour MP for Truro and Falmouth, will host a meeting in the Barn Meeting Space at Trelissick from 11am to 12.30pm, focusing on how communities can strengthen resilience in the future. She will cover topics including communications and internet infrastructure, power supply, community coordination, and emergency planning at the town, parish and individual level.

In Penzance, Andrew George, Liberal Democrat MP for West Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly, will lead the meeting at St John’s Hall from 6pm to 8pm on Monday [February 9].

Representatives from Cornwall Council, Openreach, South West Water and National Grid will be in attendance. Each of these groups will have a stall where residents can raise individual questions directly. Later in the evening, in open session, there will be opportunity for a group discussion.

Mr George would especially like to hear how recent storms affected constituents, their families and communities; what help is still required, and what lessons need to be learned.
