THE skatepark in Newquay has been selected to host one of the most important events in the skateboarding calendar, which will attract hundreds of spectators.
Concrete Waves will be hosting Skateboard GB National Championships 2026 Park Discipline between July 10 and 12.
The three-day event will see the 50 of the most skilled skateboarders from across the UK competing for £10,000 in cash prizes, which is set to include members of the Skateboard GB National Team such as Lola Tambling, Lilly Strachan, Tay Cunningham and George O’Neill.
There will be male and female events for both competitions, with equal prize money for each.
The Park competition will take place in the skatepark bowl, with athletes performing tricks out the top of the pool and on the coping surrounding it.
Spectators can expect flips, spins, grinds and big air transitions.
A spokesperson for Newquay Town Council, which runs Concrete Waves, said: “Returning to Newquay after a hugely successful 2025 competition, the event is now a well-established fixture at the spiritual home of surf and skate in the UK.
“We are proud to welcome the championships back to the town.
“One of the largest and well-known skateparks, and the home to British Olympian Lola Tambling, Concrete Waves is the perfect base to showcase skateboarding in the UK.
“Attracting hundreds of visitors for the three-day event, this is a great way to support local businesses and tourism in the area.
“And, Skateboard GB are proud to host our biggest event here each year.
“The event is free to attend and there will be free skateboard lessons all weekend, as well as other activities around the skatepark.
“This is a fantastic community event hosted by Skateboard GB at one of the Council’s most valued assets.”
