SAND levelling work is underway at Porth Beach to prevent a build-up impacting the surrounding area.

Cormac is carrying out the sand clearance work as part of its beach management activities. The sand levelling is expected to be completed by Friday, June 6.

A spokesperson for Cormac said: “Due to the nature of our coastline, windblown sand can build up, impacting nearby properties, restricting access to the beach, and obstructing traffic on the highway.

“To ensure safe access, prevent damage to properties, and maintain water flow from the local stream, we need to carry out this work. The sand will be moved into mounds at the edge of the stream channel, allowing it to settle back down to the beach.

“As in previous years, these mounds will gradually weather away, which is expected to take two to three weeks, depending on weather conditions. Public access will be controlled throughout the operation.

“Please follow the signage on site to ensure the safety of workers and other beach users. We will make every effort to minimise disruption and complete the project as quickly as possible. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation during this time.”
