A REMEMBRANCE Day display has been created in Newquay to mark the start of an initiative to build a community archive for residents to record their war related stories.
A wreath and tributes to those affected by war have been put on display at Newquay Library.
Deputy mayor Sarah Thomson has worked with library staff in a bid to preserve family war stories and memories for future generations.
Cllr Thomson said: “From my initial ideas from VJ day, stories started to come in and we’ve created this wonderful display at the library. The archive is a work in progress, bringing together memories handed down through generations, from the Falklands to the First World War and beyond.
“Across generations, countless memories tell the story of how conflict touched lives. Moments of courage, loss, and resilience that deserve to be remembered.
“Together, we can remember and preserve these important histories.”
Residents are invited to share handwritten notes, recordings, or photographs. The library team can photocopy items for display, so originals stay safe.
