A PRESTIGIOUS Newquay choir is to present a special Christmas concert for the community.

Newquay Male Voice Choir will be staging a community carol service at the Oasis Centre on Pargolla Road on Friday, December 19 at 7pm.

Members of the choir, who will be donning their best Christmas jumpers for the festive occasion will lead the celebration, which will also feature special solo and small-group performances including opportunities for the audience to take part in some well-known carols.

The choir, under the direction of Tony Harries, supported by Spud Yeomans and Rachel Margetts, has spent recent weeks honing their Christmas favourites and learning new pieces and arrangements ready for the concert, which promises to be a “lively contribution” to the festive offering in the town.

Admission is free but there will be a raffle and a retiring collection. Festive refreshments will be available. All proceeds from the evening will be shared between the Newquay Methodist Church and the choir.
