THE popular promenade flags are back in Penzance, signalling the start of summer.

The streets of Penzance town centre and the promenade have received their annual splash of colour.

This year the flags have been created by Goldsithney-based company Sail Flags in collaboration with Cornish illustrator Jago Silver who has designed a series of flags that celebrate the spirit of Penzance.

The flags were raised on Penzance Promenade on May 22 and a new set of flags and banners were installed throughout the town centre over the Bank Holiday weekend.

18 vibrant flags will line the iconic promenade, while 150 more will brighten the town centre.

The promenade and town flags, which are commissioned and funded by Penzance Council, usually stay up until September.
