A popular Truro pub has reopened quietly.

The Rising Sun on Mitchell Hill opened its doors to customers on Friday, January 23, having closed in August 2025 following the departure of the previous tenant, chef Tom Hannon.

Taking the helm is Cornishman Pip Lovelock, who comes to the Riser with a lengthy experience of the Duchy’s tourism hospitality industry.

As the team builds, the pub will aim for standard opening hours of 11am to 11pm (midnight on Friday and Saturday). A food menu is currently under discussion and will be revealed in due course.

Punch Pubs & Co operations manager Nick Mayor said: “We understand the value of this pub to the Truro community, so we’re excited to be reopening the doors and welcoming guests back. We’re looking forward to working with Pip and the team, who will ensure this fantastic pub continues to thrive.”
