POLICE are urging riders of off-road motorcycles not to ride them illegally on the roads in Cornwall’s Clay Country – warning someone could be killed.

Officers in St Austell have posted pictures they have received of such motorbikes being ridden on and near the A391 in the Stenalees, Carluddon and Penwithick area.

In an online message alongside the pictures, they said: “It is only a matter of time before a serious incident occurs due to inexperienced, young riders using non-MOT-tested and possibly mechanically defective motorbikes on fast and busy main roads.”

Urging the riders to stay off the roads, they said: “We don’t want to be the ones telling your loved ones that you have been killed or seriously injured as a result of a collision.”
