DRIVERS and residents are being invited to have their say on plans to improve safety on one of the most accident-prone stretches of the A38 in South East Cornwall.

National Highways is holding a public information session in Liskeard next month to outline proposed safety improvements between Liskeard and Trerulefoot.

The event will take place at Liskeard Town Hall on Monday, October 5, from 1pm until 6.30pm.

The A38 between the two junctions has experienced a number of high-severity collisions, with junction crossovers identified as a particular concern.

According to National Highways, collision data covering the period from 2019 to 2024 shows the number of people killed or seriously injured on the route is 34 per cent higher than the regional average.

The organisation has now developed proposals aimed at improving safety and reducing the risk of serious collisions along the route.

Members of the National Highways project team will be at the Liskeard event to explain the proposals, answer questions and hear views from local residents, businesses and road users.

The consultation will also give people an opportunity to examine the proposed changes and provide feedback before the plans progress.

For those unable to attend the public session, National Highways says details of the proposals and an online questionnaire will be made available on its website later this month.

The authority is encouraging local people to take part in the consultation and share information about the event with others who regularly use the A38.

The improvements form part of efforts to make the busy route safer, particularly at locations where vehicles cross or join the main carriageway.
