PLANS are proposed to install residential park homes at a holiday park in Goonhavern.

Penrose Holiday Park has submitted a planning application for a change of use of land for the siting of 17 park home dwellings.

Influence Planning, on behalf of the applicant, stated in the planning application: “The existing site was previously used for touring holiday units and consists of hard surfaced areas, internal roads and grassed areas. There are some permanent statics in the north-eastern corner that would be removed and replaced with the new park homes.

“The planning application site is located west and north of the 15 residential park homes approved in October 2023 which followed the earlier phase of 12 approved. They have continued to be very successful additions to the local housing stock, and it is due to their success and demand for this form of accommodation that this final phase of development is pursued.

“There are no adverse impacts that would significantly and demonstrably outweigh the benefits of the scheme to deliver a modest windfall site that would deliver the final phase of specialist residential park homes at Penrose Residential Park.

“The remaining land at Penrose Holiday Park Goonhavern is of a small scale and will not generate any significant landscape harm and is surrounded on all sides by mobile homes or park homes. The site has good access to services; this is a sustainable location for small scale residential development as proposed.

“The proposed 17 additional residential park home dwellings, adding to the housing mix within Goonhavern are of an appropriate design for the area, sitting alongside the recently constructed park homes on the adjacent land. It will be a positive use of the site delivering a sustainable small-scale development which accords with the policies of the Cornwall Local Plan.”
